HRIS team lead, Dykki Settle, arrived in Monrovia, Liberia over the weekend to attend an important meeting held by the West African Health Association (WAHO): The Meeting of Regional Human Resources for Health (HRH) Managers on the HRH Crisis in the Region. The theme of the meeting is Computerization of the HRH Information System to Improve HRH Management.

The regional WAHO meeting kicks off today and marks an important milestone for our eHealth/Health Informatics work and our iHRIS software. Professor Kayode Odusote, WAHO’s director for HR development, convened the meeting to present outcomes of a joint WAHO/Ghana Ministry of Health pilot of the iHRIS Manage software in the Northern Region of Ghana. HRH managers from fifteen WAHO countries, along with representatives from the World Health Organization, the Global Health Workforce Alliance, and the Health Metrics Network, will discuss the pilot results.
It is important to note that the pilot was led by Professor Odusote with the assistance of Kofi Afari, information manager at the Ghana Ministry of Health, and conducted with only minimal virtual support from our HRIS team in Chapel Hill. No travel has occurred prior to this trip, and all support was offered via phone and Internet technologies. Even this week’s dissemination meeting is fully sponsored and run by WAHO. This means that this is the first truly independent review and dissemination of the iHRIS software!
Today and tomorrow, Dykki will present on CapacityPlus and the iHRIS software. On Wednesday, he and Professor Odusote will meet with the Liberia Ministry of Health and USAID/Liberia.
