Ensuring Sustainability

An information system requires ongoing support and improvement to ensure maximum utility. The Capacity Project ensures that each human resource information system (HRIS) implemented by the Project can be sustained after the Project has ended. We institute several sustainability strategies depending on the context and needs of the country, including:

  • collect feedback from stakeholders about changing needs and roll out improvements that align with those needs
  • train data collectors and managers to improve data quality and integrity
  • train technical support staff to support systems and information technology infrastructure
  • work with local educational institutions to develop skills necessary for supporting, maintaining and developing Open Source information systems
  • develop user communities regionally to facilitate problem solving and share system improvements
  • enlist the global Open Source development community to voluntarily support and improve the systems.
