Capacity Project/Rwanda Helps Define Scope of Practice for Nurses and Midwives Print

The Capacity Project is participating in an ongoing series of workshops designed to define the scope of practice of Rwandan nurses and midwives at the local, district and country levels.

Held in Kigali, the workshops gather representatives from nursing and midwifery schools, district and referral hospitals, the Ministry of Health, the Oriental Missionary Society and the Association for Promoting Foreign Education and Training (APEFE) to identify specific roles and responsibilities for professional nurses and midwives at each level.

In December, the group continued work on the final draft of a document outlining the roles of A1 nurses and midwives that will be disseminated and adopted throughout the country.
