Health Managers Build Leadership Skills in Southern Sudan Print

On March 9-13, the Capacity Project conducted the fourth workshop in its Leadership Development Program (LDP) series for health managers.

Thirty-five people from the states of Warrap, Western Bahr Ghazal, Northern Bahr Ghazal, Lakes, Central Equatoria and Unity attended, including staff from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Water and Irrigation. The Project’s John Cheruiyot facilitated the LDP along with three Project-trained local facilitators. Involving local facilitators in the workshop and coaching delivery process supports the sustainability of this initiative. Participants cited sessions on leading and managing as the most helpful for their work, and recommended extending the course to all local staff.

Since 2006, the Project has worked with the Ministry of Health to help over 135 key health managers become champions of change in their own departments and organizations. The LDP is part of the Project’s initiative to expand human resources management in Southern Sudan.
