Evaluation of On-the-Job Training Underway in Rwanda Print

During Year 4, the Capacity Project used the Learning for Performance (LFP) method in Rwanda to adapt the national family planning (FP) in-service training curriculum to an on-the-job training (OJT) approach.

Previously, the FP training was conducted in classroom settings over a two-week period. With the LFP/OJT approach, trainees are taught at their job site, allowing them to continue working while they receive vital training and guided practice in the provision of FP services.

The Project recently began an assessment of the curriculum adaptation process, implementation, costs and results in three of the eight districts in which OJT has been put into practice. Staff pre-tested evaluation instruments in late March and will be in the process of data collection until mid-May; a full report is projected for completion in June.
